Viwinco Visits the 2026 BCTC Project House!
Students at the Berks Career & Technology Center (BCTC) have officially begun construction on their 23rd student-built home. Continuing a tradition that dates to the late 90’s, BCTC’s Student-Built House Program brings together multiple trade programs including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, masonry, painting, and design to collaborate on the full construction of a custom home from the ground up.

``This is a real job site,`` said Carpentry Instructor Matthew Huck. ``They dig the hole and put the ridge vent on the roof. Everything in between is built by students. They get to see how the different trades interact with one another, real world problems, how we fix them to avoid issues down the road, and how everything works and comes together to make a finished product.``
To support this year’s build, Viwinco gave a discounted house package of black vinyl S-Series New Construction windows to provide students with a hands-on experience installing premium, energy-efficient products made right here in Morgantown, PA.
Beyond practical skills, Huck hopes the project will inspire students to pursue a lifelong career in construction.

``I'm hoping to instill my love of construction with some of these students,`` he explained. ``Some of constructions professionals are trying to retire, ad we need to fill the gap with our youth.``
With completion expected Spring of 2026, this year’s build continues to showcase the collaboration, craftsmanship, and community partnership that make BCTC’s program and students remarkable.
