Viwinco OceanView Impact Resistant Windows

Viwinco OceanView Windows in Bronze

After witnessing the wide-spread destruction caused by hurricanes, we set out to discover a better way to protect your home. We worked with product engineers and invested heavily into manufacturing processes such as a glass laminating line, tempering oven and autoclave to monitor and enhance the quality of our impact-resistant product. After extensive product testing on our certified test wall we developed our OceanView product line, next generation impact-resistant windows. Impact-resistant, thermally efficient and ready to withstand some of nature’s toughest storms.

The Next Generation of Impact Resistant Windows

The Viwinco OceanView product line is engineered to protect and built to impress. Our impact products include a 15/16 Insulated Glass Unit comprised of a tempered exterior lite, a laminated interior lite and an argon gas fill all closed off by a super energy efficient Duralite spacer system by Quanex. The IGU is then housed in a robust, chambered vinyl frame reinforced with aluminum rods resulting in a sleek, durable and highly efficient window system.

When it comes to customization on impact products, there are very few windows and doors on the market that can compare to the OceanView line. Available in a variety of colors, and offering stylistic choices such as trim casing and jamb extensions, the OceanView product line makes it easy to create the look you want.

Quality and consistency go hand-in-hand. We made the decision many years ago to bring a tempering oven, laminating line and autoclave in house which allow us to easily monitor product quality and drastically shorten lead times. In 2019 we purchased an automated, high-speed vertical insulated glass line to reduce variability in production, and to assist our employees when handling the heavy impact-resistant glass units. We also transitioned our spacer system to Duralite by Quanex for superior durability and enhanced performance. The Duralite is a warm-edge spacer built with a unique no-metal, composite laminating technology. It consists of multiple layers that contribute to its impressive insulation properties.

How do Impact Resistant Windows Protect Your Home?

Hurricanes are synonymous with extremely powerful winds and excessive rainfall. During a hurricane, the strong winds can turn loose debris into windborne projectiles, which have serious potential to wreak havoc on your home. Impact-resistant windows—and doors— are designed to protect the building envelope from being compromised by windborne debris.

Why is it Important to Maintain the Building Envelope During a Hurricane?

Maintaining the building envelope during a hurricane is important because the strong winds have the potential to destroy your home. In the event that you don’t have impact-resistant products and your building envelope is breached by windborne debris, the powerful winds can funnel into your home, building extreme pressure and causing a collapse.

Double-Hung

Viwinco OceanView double-hung windows feature two operable sashes, one on top the other on the bottom. OceanView double-hungs provide maximum ventilation and are easily maintained. These units are among the most versatile styles in our product offering and work well as the only style in a home or as a complement to other styles. Viwinco double-hungs are also available in oriel and reverse oriel configurations for additional personalization.

Our OceanView double-hung windows come standard with Viwinco patented Tilt-n-Lock technology for single-handed operation and the cleanest sight lines in the industry. The Tilt-n-Lock does away with traditional tilt latches in favor of an easy to use one-handed system. The Tilt-n-Lock provides unobstructed views by housing the tilt latches and reinforcement inside the meeting rail. At the 0-degree position the sash is securely locked and the tilt latches are housed in the jambs for added security. At the 150-degree position, the hidden tilt latches are engaged but the sashes are unlocked allowing the sashes to be lifted. At the 180-degree position, the hidden tilt latches are disengaged from the jambs allowing the windows to be tilted inward for easy maintenance.

Casements and Awnings

Viwinco OceanView casement windows are hinged at the side and swing outward to the left or right with the use of a hand crank. Since the entire sash opens, casements provide ample ventilation for any space. These highly customizable windows can be easily matched with existing styles, or mulled together in spacious window walls to create a truly unique look. One popular style is our colonial casement, which matches the look of a hung window, with the added egress features of a casement window! Fixed casements (also referred to as casement picture windows) are available as well.

Awning windows function similar to casement windows, however, they are hinged at the top and open outwards. Awnings provide a lot of ventilation, even during rainy days. These are commonly used above or below picture windows, or stacked on top of each other.

Pictures and Transoms

Viwinco picture windows act as a frame for your outside views and let natural light pour into a room. These fixed windows are one of the most practical windows you could choose as they provide the highest energy efficiency to homeowners. Commonly used as a standalone window or paired with different styles—or additional picture windows— these windows allow for homeowners to achieve a distinctive look and add atmosphere to any room. With a sleek modern profile, these windows can accommodate large glass units that allow you to focus on the views that matter most to you!

A transom is a structural term that refers to a horizontal beam above a window or door that separates it from a window above it. Transom windows are picture units that are placed in the space above the transom. These are often used to provide privacy while allowing natural light to flood into the room.

Bays and Bows

Bay and Bow windows are some of the most transformative products that you can add to your home. They project outward from the building envelope and provide full 180-degree views of the outside. These seated windows create a sense of space and openness to any room, making it seem larger and more inviting.

Viwinco bay windows come in a variety of different degrees in which they extrude from the exterior of a house. Available in 10-30-45-degrees, bay windows provide ample depth to any room and come with a large seat board, perfect for creating a window seat! In a bay window, only the flanker units (side units) are angles and the center will be parallel to the exterior of the house.

Viwinco bow windows are similar to bay windows in the sense they protrude from the house exterior, however, they are always angled at 10-degrees. Bow windows generally have a more-rounded appearance than bay units. These units also come with a large seat board that could be used as a window seat or as a decorative shelf! In contrast to a bay window, all units in a bow are angled at 10-degrees, including the center units.

  • 15/16″ high performance insulated glass unit with argon gas fill and thermally efficient Duralite spacer
  • Tempered Low-E exterior sacrificial lite
  • Interior laminated glass lite
