How to Operate Viwinco’s Tilt-n-Lock System
Viwinco’s Tilt-n-Lock system is a patented innovation designed to simplify window operation while maintaining security and ease of use. This system, found in S-Series, Cambridge, and OceanView single- and double-hung windows, allows users to lock, unlock, and tilt the sash using a single, integrated mechanism. Whether you need ventilation or easy cleaning access, the Tilt-n-Lock system makes it effortless. Not only is it functional, but it is also aesthetically pleasing—eliminating obtrusive thumb latches, the Tilt-n-Lock system provides clean sight lines at the meeting rails for a sleek, modern look.
Understanding the Tilt-n-Lock Positions
The Tilt-n-Lock system operates based on the position of the lock handle, controlling both the locking mechanism and the ability to tilt the sash inward.

0° (Horizontal) – Locked Position
At 0°, the sash is securely locked, and the tilt latches are engaged with the window jambs. This prevents unintended opening and enhances security.

150° – Unlocked, Sliding Mode
At 150°, the sash is unlocked but still held in place by the tilt latches. This allows for smooth vertical operation— the window can be slid up or down.

180° (Vertical) – Tilt Mode
The tilt latches disengage, allowing the sash to tilt inward for easy cleaning.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If the sash does not tilt inward, double-check that the Tilt-n-Lock handle is fully in the 180° position before attempting to tilt.
- If the window does not lock properly, ensure the sash is completely seated in the frame and the handle is rotated fully back to 0°.
