What are Double-Hung Windows? 

Classic, stylish, and practical—double-hung windows have two operable sashes that smoothly move up and down. Counterweights (balances) housed in the frame facilitate their operation, and a lock and keeper on the meeting rail secure the window in a locked position. The versatility of double-hung windows shines through, seamlessly blending with traditional and contemporary home designs. 

Our S-Series new construction, Cambridge replacement, and OceanView impact-resistant double-hung windows come standard with Viwinco’s patented Tilt-n-Lock technology. With this innovative feature, additional reinforcement is housed inside the meeting rail, and enables single-handed operation with the turn of the lock. Since the mechanism is housed inside the sash profile, this eliminates the need for traditional tilt latches and provides clean sightlines. The three locking positions are used to indicate the status of the window. At the 0-degree position, the sash is securely locked, and the tilt latches are tightly secured into the jambs. At 150-degrees, the tilt latches are still engaged in the jambs, but the sashes are unlocked allowing the sash to be lifted. At 180-degrees the hidden tilt latches are disengaged from the jambs allowing tilt in window operation for easy maintenance.

Our OceanView product line is engineered to protect and built to impress. Our impact products include a 15/16 Insulated Glass Unit comprised of a tempered, exterior lite, a laminated interior lite, and an argon gas fill; all closed off by a super energy efficient Duralite spacer system by Quanex.
