How to Operate & Clean Your Tilt-n-Lock Window
Operating a Viwinco single- or double-hung window equipped with our patented Tilt-n-Lock system is straightforward and user friendly.
Viwinco’s patented Tilt-n-Lock technology is a standard feature in our single- and double-hung S-Series, Cambridge, and OceanView products. Our innovative Tilt-n-Lock system simplifies window operation by integrating the lock into the meeting rail, enabling one-handed use and effortless cleaning.
The Tilt-n-Lock feature is not available in the Edgemont product line.
First, locate the Tilt-n-Lock and start by unlocking the window by pushing the Tilt-n-Lock latch 150 degrees to the right.
1. Unlock the Window & Tilt-In the Bottom Sash

First, locate the Tilt-n-Lock and start by unlocking the window by pushing the Tilt-n-Lock latch 150 degrees to the right.
2. Tilt-In the Bottom Sash

Push the Tilt-n-Lock handle to the 180-degree position to disengage the hidden tilt latches from the jambs, allowing the sash to tilt inward. Make sure the bottom sash is raised a few inches above the sill before tilting.
Tilt the sash inward until it is fully open and resting securely—it will not fall out. If you have an Impact window, be aware that the sash will be heavier due to the impact-resistant glass.
3. Open the Top Sash (Double-Hung Only)

Once the bottom sash is secure, lower the top sash slightly, leaving a few inches of space between the two sashes. Press the two thumb latches inward to disengage the tilt locks, then gently tilt the top sash inward toward you.
4. Cleaning

With the sash, or sashes, tilted in, you may now clean your windows with ease. Use a window cleanser and a soft cloth to ensure streak-free, beautiful glass.
5. Closing Your Window

For Single-Hung Windows – Skip to 3 for Single Hung Windows:
- Once you’ve finished cleaning the top sash, tilt it back into the frame and push it up until it is fully seated at the top of the window frame.
- Make sure the top sash is completely raised—if it isn’t, the lock may not align properly, making it difficult to secure the window. Then, turn the Tilt-n-Lock handle to the locked position.
- Tilt the bottom sash back into place and press it firmly until it clicks securely into position.
Note: If your window is an OceanView model, the sash will be heavier due to the impact-resistant glass.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If the sash does not tilt inward, double-check that the Tilt-n-Lock handle is fully in the 180° position before attempting to tilt.
- If the window does not lock properly, ensure the sash is completely seated in the frame and the handle is rotated fully back to 0°.
- For windows that are 36” or wider, they will have two locks: a cam lock on the left and a Tilt-n-Lock on the right, which is used to open and close the window. The same instructions apply to these wider windows.
