Reflecting on the 2026 Viwinco Summer Internship Program

Another summer means another year of Viwinco’s Summer Internship Program! For 2026, we welcomed eight interns from across seven colleges and two countries. After interviewing in the spring, each of these interns was assigned to a department that best aligned with their major/field of study.

Over the past 10 weeks, each of these interns has made valuable contributions to both their department and Viwinco as a whole. They received extensive mentorship from their respective department heads, given meaningful duties that expanded on their studies. Now at the end of their experience, each has had a chance to reflect on their unique tasks.

All the interns immersed themselves in projects that aligned with their field of study. Here are a few of their highlights:

Aiden Gavin – Engineering

Aiden, a senior at Penn State University, made a meaningful impact on Viwinco’s operations by working in Fusion 360 to design and print new pieces for our lines, helping speed up production. His main contribution was the invention of a new slope piece for Line 3, which stopped windows from getting stuck as they were moved down the line.

Sean Horgan – Safety

Sean, a recent graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, helped to improve safety measures throughout Viwinco, including clearing appropriate space in front of fire extinguishers and electric panels, completing ergonomic assessments for Line 3, and prepping tool holders to prevent cuts and injuries.

Sabina Soders – Continuous Improvement

With the implementation of a new Line 3, Sabina, a sophomore at Millersville University, played a significant part in ensuring everything worked as planned. Key contributions included conducting time studies, planning cycles, and assisting with tests.

Trevor Spollen – Marketing

To improve Viwinco’s search visibility, Trevor, a recent graduate of Alvernia University, worked in BrightEdge, a search engine optimization platform, to make our website easier to find. He also made edits on the website and assisted in creating the video interviews below.

Connor Stoltzfus – Manufacturing Operations

Connora junior at Grove City College, created a new size of laminate to use in glass production, which prevented glass from getting dirty and having to be cleaned. He also worked on installing a new laminated glass lift, which will now require less labor from employees. This change will help prevent back injuries and strain.

Steve Tello – Supply Chain

Steve is a recent graduate of Alvernia University. His key contributions included conducting time studies, assisting with a new rack labeling system, and reorganizing the way materials are delivered to the lines. We’re excited that Steve will be continuing with Viwinco beyond the summer as he continues to grow and build on his experience.

Zack Weinstein – Reliability & Maintenance

With this being his second year in the program, Zack, a senior at Bucknell University, was able to get more involved in projects, including making carts, shelving, and cabinets for several departments, as well as helping to contain SO2.

James Witmer – Material Operations

Jamesa senior at Elizabethtown College, created a new pull system for picture and sliding windows, as well as literature to go along with it. Additionally, he assisted in creating a new saw for Line 3.

Elena Kollar, head of the program, checked in with the interns on a weekly basis, ensuring they were getting the most out of their time. To celebrate their accomplishments and show off the value of the program, each intern was asked to create and present a slideshow reflecting their time with us. Viwinco’s leadership and department heads were all in attendance. The presentations were thorough and thoughtful.

Two of this year’s interns, Zack and Steve, returned for their second year after completing the 2025 program. With a basic understanding of their departments already achieved, both were able to take part in more advanced work, enriching their skillsets.

Intern Videos

Zack and Steve also participated in our intern interviews once again, this time joined by Aiden, Sabina, and Trevor. These one-minute interviews provide insight into the intern experience, showing firsthand how interns impact their respective departments.

Along with being interviewed, Trevor, our Marketing Intern, helped to craft each video. Trevor wrote the interview questions, assisted in filming the interviews, captured B-roll, and created a script for the final videos, helping his department both in front of and behind the camera.
