Slider Spotlight

A beach house with a large screened-in porch and white triangular windows sits elevated on sandy dunes, with a wooden boardwalk leading from the house to the beach.

When choosing windows for your newest home project, it’s important to consider the type, size, and style of window that will best suit the space. The style of a window doesn’t only affect the aesthetic of your home, but also its functionality. When blending functionality with style, sliding windows are a top choice for many homeowners living in urban areas or coastal regions.

What is a Viwinco Slider?

Sliding windows are units that open horizontally along the sash track. These windows are designed with functionality and space in mind. They are ideal for openings that are wider than they are tall. Because they open horizontally, they do not require the lifting force of hung units. Viwinco sliding windows are available in 2-lite or 3-lite configurations. For 3-lite configurations, the center lite is fixed and the end lites are operable for venting, making them easy to operate conveniently for people of all ages.

Where to Use Viwinco Sliders

Sliding windows are traditionally used in areas of the home where maximizing horizontal space is essential such as kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Due to their large openings, sliding windows allow natural light and ventilation into rooms that may have space restrictions. Sliders are also commonly used on walls that look out to a porch or patio to prevent them from being damaged in walkable areas.

Viwinco Glass Package

One option that sets Viwinco sliding windows apart from the competition is our glass package. Our standard glass package is comprised of a 1” tempered, double-strength insulated glass unit (IGU), with a Low-E coating, filled with argon gas and sealed with an energy-efficient spacer system, resulting in premium thermal efficiency. Tempered glass—known as safety glass—shatters into small, rounded cubes instead of shards, making it a safer option when used in large glass units or high traffic areas. Additionally, Viwinco 2-lite sliders are available in the OceanView impact-resistant product line. For homes in hurricane-prone areas, our OceanView impact-resistant windows offer additional protection with laminated glass designed to withstand harsh conditions.

Slider Colors, Options, and Accessories

Viwinco offers a range of colors, options and accessories to allow homeowners to personalize their sliding windows. Our window colors include white, tan, or clay solid extrusions, and midnight black or bronze exterior laminates. Additional features on our slider windows include: extruded full screens, Florida flange simulated divided lites (SDLs), and specialty glass like Obscure and Gray Glass (Turtle Glass.) On our New Construction line, sliders can also have extension jambs and trim cashing added.
