How to Adjust Your Patio Door
Keeping your patio door operating smoothly involves making sure the rollers and lock mechanism are properly aligned. With just a few tools and careful steps, you can fine-tune the rollers for an even reveal and align the keeper for a secure, easy lock.
Tools You’ll Need:
- Spatula
- Chisel
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Speed Square + pencil (optional)
Step 1: Adjust the Patio Door Panel

Remove the circular screw covers from the bottom of the operating panel. Insert the screwdriver into the adjustment holes to raise or lower the rollers until the reveal between the operating panel and frame are even.
- Turn clockwise to raise the rollers.
- Turn counterclockwise to lower the rollers.
To aid in aligning the operating panel to the frame, use a speed square to make pencil marks at the center of the keeper and latch actuator.

Step 2: Align the Keeper

Loosen the mounting screws holding the keeper in place on the patio door frame. Adjust the keeper so the center lines up with the center of the latch actuator on the operating panel, then retighten the screws.

Step 3: Adjust the Keeper Screws

To ensure the locking points on the operating panel engage smoothly with the keeper:
- Tighten the center keeper screw to release spring tension.
- Use the top and bottom screws to move the keeper plate in or out.
- Turn clockwise to pull the plate in.
- Turn counterclockwise to push the plate out.
- Once aligned, loosen the center screw to secure the keeper and restore tension.

Step 4: Replace the Circular Screw Covers

Following adjustments, the patio door should slide, close, and lock properly with ease. When adjustments are complete, gently replace the circular screw covers over the adjustment holes.
