Viwinco Academy — Launching Our New Training Portal
Education has always been a major focus at Viwinco. Whether it be developing our employee capabilities or informing our customers on the latest innovation, we take responsibility as a manufacturer to provide as much information as possible, to educate people within the industry. One of our latest educational initiatives has been developing our own online training portal—Viwinco Academy.
What is Viwinco Academy?
Windows are one of the most complex building materials on the market, it can take years or even decades to cultivate a thorough understanding of them. We created the Viwinco Academy to establish an educational baseline on our products and general industry terminology for our employees and customers. The Academy consists of five short modules containing multiple lessons pertaining to each topic. After completing each module, students must pass a quiz to test how well they retained the information before moving on to the next module. The topics currently included are: Industry Terminology, Viwinco Brands and Product Types, Window and Door Performance Data, General Product Installation and the Viwinco Warranty.
With “controlling the source” being a cornerstone of Viwinco, we wanted to take the same approach with Viwinco Academy. Therefore, we developed the entire training portal in-house between our marketing and IT departments. The fenestration industry is constantly changing, and it is important for us to be able to update our content and make additions as needed. Controlling the training portal in-house allows us to make changes quickly, without relying on a third party. Additionally, this has allowed us to design a truly personalized platform that closely matches the look and feel associated with our new branding.
What to Expect From Viwinco Academy
The Viwinco Academy is currently exclusive to our internal employees and our customers at the distribution level. After completing the training portal, users can expect to have a general understating of windows and doors in addition to a familiarity with the Viwinco brand and product offerings. Users will also receive a downloadable certificate and will be sent a limited edition “Academy Trained” Viwinco polo (while supplies last). Since the training portal is online, users can access the different modules even after completing them, making this a valuable refence tool that users can go back to as needed.
Looking Ahead
While the Academy is still in its infancy, we plan to develop additional modules to better equip our users. We also look forward to creating additional training portals for our internal departments to enhance our training programs.
