2023 Viwinco Halloween

2023 Viwinco Halloween

As a family-owned and operated company, developing a sense of community is very important to us. As we head into the holiday season, we are looking at a number of ways to get our employees and their families engaged with the company and to celebrate their hard work. This October, we had two events to get everyone in the Halloween spirit! One was Viwinco’s first trunk or treat event, and the second was a costume contest.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk-or-treating is something that has gained popularity over the past few years. The premise is that a group of people gather in an open area such as a parking lot and decorate the trunks of their cars, while handing candy out to trick-or-treaters. This is an alternative to traditional trick-or-treating and is often done by companies, schools, daycares, sports teams or large groups.

Some of the benefits of trunk or treating is that it is more convenient, especially in more rural areas, where the houses are more spread out. Additionally, it is a fun and safe social event for everyone participating. These are especially good for families with young children, as they don’t need to walk long distances to get candy. Since this is a newer concept, a lot of our employees did not know what it was or how to participate. Because of this, we had a group of employees be accessible during break times to educate what a trunk or treat is and assist with signups. Although this was our first year doing a company trunk or treat, there was a total of 15 cars that participated and a great turnout!

To make this event even more exciting, we provided food, drinks and snacks for everyone and held a popularity contest for the people who designed a trunk. The contest was simple, if you had a favorite car, you wrote their corresponding number on a slip. The following day, we drew the slips and tallied the amounts to identify our top three winners. Our gift card prizes included: $300 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place. Many of the trunks were designed by individuals or families, while others were designed by whole departments. Overall, everyone went above and beyond to make this event special for the trick-or-treaters.

The following day when counted up our tallies, the winners were as follows:

First Place: Nashaly

Second Place: Maria

Third Place: Human Resources Department

Halloween Costume Contest

In addition to our first trunk or treat, we also conducted our 1st company-sponsored costume contest. Every year, there are several employees who dress up in costumes to spread the Halloween spirit. This year, we put together a costume contest with a panel of judges to vote for the best-dressed employees. Some criteria the judges used to score costumes were: creativity and originality, effort and quality, and presentation. We were excited to see so many employees who went above and beyond with their costumes and had a hard time choosing winners. We would like to congratulate our Viwinco 2023 Halloween Costume Contest winners below:

First Place: Juan “Pumpkin Guy”

Second Place: Nashaly & Joshwald “killer clowns”, and Jose “pits & Scratches (Vinyl material)”

Third Place: Bryan, Jodiel & Anthony “Security Guard and Inmates”, and Oscar “Killer Jumpsuit”

Looking Ahead

We were excited to see all of the participation and holiday spirit from our employees throughout October. We always look forward to hosting company events and rewarding our employees for their hard work throughout the year. During the holiday season, we have a couple of more events we look forward to, including our annual turkey giveaway for employees and our holiday party. We are looking forward to another exciting end to the year!
